4.2 Storage

4.2.1 General instructions for storage

During prolonged periods of non-use of the machine, it must be stored in order to protect its integrity. Equipment which has been incorrectly stored is
at risk of damage when used again. This makes it important that the persons responsible for storage operations take the greatest care in this work and
scrupulously apply the stipulated measures.
Storage protection system
Selecting a storage protection system depends on 2 main factors:
- the duration of storage

the conditions of storage: unsheltered storage (exposure to bad weather) or sheltered storage (building, enclosed shed, open shed, canopy, etc.)
The equipment must not be stored before being run-in. Easy access must be provided around the machine for maintenance operations.
Storage premises
As a general rule, premises intended for equipment storage must provide the best possible protection against:
- dust, exhaust gases and humidity
- direct sunlight
- rapid temperature variations
Placing in storage
The condition of equipment when returned to service after storage depends on the manner in which the equipment was prepared prior to storage:
- cleaning
- technical inspection to detect any abnormalities

4.2.2 Particular instructions for storage

At temperatures below 0°C, there is a risk that the refrigerant oil will solidify and cause damage to the lubrication circuit of the drilling machine The
lubrication circuit must therefore be drained before the machine is stored.
• After each utilisation, and in particular when storing for several days, it is vital to remove the drill, grease it, and store it separately from
the machine. This avoids oxidation of the drill in the spindle, which would make it difficult to remove.
