1.4.2 Safety rules to be followed before and during utilisation of the PR.2 rail drilling machine
Take care that the hollow drill never comes into contact with a sleeper, the ballast, or with any other foreign body.
Before starting the machine, check the correct condition and fixing of the appropriate taper clamps. Never make any modifications.
Make regular measurements of the speed of rotation of the drill and the engine, particularly after re-installing the machine, correcting the speed if
necessary.
Only use GEISMAR STUMEC approved hollow high-speed steel drills, in terms of dimensions and details of composition.
Before moving the machine or between two drilling sequences, stop the engine and retract the drill completely so that it is protected from impacts.
The machine must not be started unless it is in position on the track.
In addition to the Individual Protection Equipment described in § 1.3 "General safety instructions / The operator and his environment", we recommend the use
of ear defenders. However, you must also refer to the current railway regulations applicable on the site in order to determine whether or not this equipment can
be used.
The weight of the machine and its noise level are not high. However, the site supervisor and machine operator are responsible for determining the number of
consecutive machine operating hours. The utilisation time must always allow the operator to produce high-quality work under safe working conditions.

1.4.3 Precautions when using PR.2 rail drilling machines

Do not use drills which are damaged or present splits or cracks.
Check that the cutting edges of the drill are not broken or cracked.
Do not strike the hollow high-speed steel drill during transport or operation, since this may cause damage.
