When power is supplied to the control unit it is advisable to carry out
some simple checks:

INITIAL CHECKS
on the control unit ("Figure 31") check that the 'ECSbus' LED
flashes regularly (approximately once per second)

on the Tx and Rx photocells ("Figure 32") check that the LED
'SAFE' flashes: the type of flashing is not important as it de-
pends on other factors; however, it is important that the LED is
not always off or always on

if all these checks are not correct, disconnect the power sup-
ply to the control unit and check the cable connections already

for at least 3 seconds and then release it
