PRODUCT USAGE LIMITS
The data relative to the product's performances is included in the "
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS" chapter (page 39) and is the only
data that allows for properly assessing whether the product is suitable
for its intended use.
Check the application limits of RIVA200 and of the accessories to be
installed, assessing whether their characteristics are capable of meet-
ing the requirements of the environment and the limitations specified
below:
– The weight and length of the swing gate leaf must not exceed the
limits indicated in 'Table 21'.
The measurements in 'Table 21' are indicative and are only for rough
estimation. The actual suitability of RIVA200 for automating a specific
Swing gate depends on friction and other phenomena, even occasional
ones, such as the presence of ice that could hinder the movement of
the leaf.
To determine the actual conditions, the force required to move the
leaf throughout its path must be measured, to ensure that this value
does not exceed half the "rated torque" specified in the "TECHNICAL
SPECIFICATIONS" chapter (page 39).
A margin of 50% is recommended because adverse weather condi-
tions can increase friction.

Installation in windy areas
Note: a severity index exceeding 100% implies that the conditions are beyond the limit of acceptability; in this case, a larger-size model is rec-
ommended.
The 'Table 1' (page 5) shows the estimated 'durability', i.e. the average
economic life of the product. The value is strongly influenced by the
manoeuvring difficulty index, i.e. the sum of all factors contributing to
wear and tear. To estimate this, add together all the difficulty indices of
the "Table 1". Check the estimated durability in the graph using the
total result.
Example of durability calculation: automation of a gate with a long leaf
1,5 metres with a weight of 220 kg, for example, located in a windy
area.
In "Table 1" , the "severity indices" for this type of installation can be
obtained: 10% ("Length leaf"), 20% ("Weight leaf") and 15% ("Installa-
tion in a windy area"). These indices must be added together to obtain
the overall severity index, which in this case is 45%.
The graph shows that the estimated service life is 55.000 cycles.

The control unit is equipped with a manoeuvre limiting
device that prevents possible overheating; it is based
on the motor load and duration of the cycles, and inter-
venes when the maximum limit is exceeded
