2.3.6 Instructions d'entretien (Protection contre la corro-
sion)
Outre les contrôles courants, le Panda Marine exige d'autres
soins réguliers, tels que contrôles du bloc de prise d'eau et du
joint d'étanchéité du couvercle frontal de la génératrice.
Dans certaines circonstances, un processus galvanique, dû à
des tensions électriques, différentes, qui agissent
généralement de l'extérieur, peut provoquer de graves dégâts
par corrosion. Une réaction galvanique peut avoir lieu quand
différents éléments (carter, échangeur thermique, passe-coque
etc.) entrent en contact avec d'autres métaux. Le métal le plus
commun (potentiel négatif) est alors attaqué.
Pour réduire ce risque, ICEMASTER a pris diverses mesures
(pompe isolée, joints d'étanchéité modifiés etc.).
Le bloc de prise d'eau est extrêmement important: Il a été
construit en tant qu'anode réactive. Quand le groupe
électrogène est soumis à une tension électrique, externe,
transmise par le système de refroidissement, celle-ci agit,
tout d'abord, visiblement, sur le bloc de prise de prise d'eau.
L'efficacité de cette mesure n'est cependant pas durable. Le
groupe électrogène doit donc être fréquemment contrôlé de
l'extérieur pour que toute trace de corrosion soit détectée en
temps utile.
Lors de la constatation de traces de corrosion externes, retirez
le bloc de prise d'eau et examinez-en également l'intérieur.
La zone située entre le couvercle frontal et le carter de la
génératrice étant aussi menacée, contrôlez-la régulièrement
(au moins une fois par an). Si elle présente des traces de
corrosion, remplacez le joint après avoir appliqué une
substance isolante PU sur la surface d'étanchéité.

2.3.6 Servicing Directions for Marine Units (corrosion pro-
tection)
It is totally necessary to carry out further servicing regularly in
addition to the usual servicing tasks (oil check, oil filter check
etc.) for all marine units. This includes checking the coolant
terminal block and the generator front cover.
Considerable corrosion from electro-plating can, in certain
circumstances, be caused to the generator through external
factors. Electroplating reaction through the installation of various
generator components (generator housing, heat exchanger,
ship intake etc.) can occur if these components come in contact
with other metals. The negative potential is affected.
ICEMASTER has taken various constructive measures
(isolation of the water pump. modification of the end plate
etc), in order to keep electroplating corrosion to a minimum.
The terminal block is especially important. It acts as a sacrificial
anode if such currents occur. The terminal block (sacrifical
anode) will show the first signs, if an external electrical current
should affect the generator via the cooling water pipe.
This measure, however, is only effective for a limited period,
should there be an external electrical current. The generator
must, for this reason, be externally checked as frequently as
possible to determine whether traces of corrosion are visible.
The terminal block must be removed in order to examine the
inner casing should signs of corrosion be visible.
The zone between the generator end plate and the generator
casing must be regularly examined. The end plate must be
regularly removed (at least once a year), if traces of corrosion
are visible. The seal must be replaced in this case and the
areas beneath the seal must be filled with a PU-isolation
substance (this can be obtained from Icemaster).
