SAFETY
SERVICING SAFETY
In general:
1. Maximum safety and best mowing results can
only be expected if the mower is maintained and
operated properly.
2. Never adjust the mower, change cutting height
or remove the grass catcher until the engine has
been stopped and the cutter blades have quit
rotating.
3. Never raise a mower deck with the blades
operating.
4. Do not dismantle the machine without releasing
or restraining forces which can cause parts to
move suddenly.
5. If a label becomes worn or removed, see the
labels section of this manual or the tractor parts
manual for replacement information.
Removing debris:
1. Stop engine, disengage the PTO's and set the
parking brake before removing grass catcher,
reaching into discharge chute or under deck.
2. Make sure blades have stopped rotating.
3. Remove obstructions with care. Keep all parts of
the body away from the cutting edges of the
blades.
4. Keep other persons away from the cutter deck.
5. Rotation of one blade causes other blades to
rotate.
Fuel:
1. Fuels are flammable, and
fuel vapors are explosive.
Use extra care when
handling.
2. Use only an approved fuel
container.
3. Never remove fuel tank cap or add fuel with the
engine running. Allow engine to cool before
refueling.
4. Do not smoke when fuel can or tank is open.
5. Never refuel indoors.

SAFETY AND OPERATORS MANUAL
Hydraulic system:
When checking for leaks, do not
use your hands to attempt to feel
a spray. Instead, pass an object
like cardboard over hydraulic
system components to visualize
a spray. Escaping hydraulic fluid
can be under sufficient pressure to penetrate skin
and cause serious injury. If injured by escaping
hydraulic fluid, see a doctor at once. Serious infec-
tion or reaction can develop if proper medical
treatment is not administered immediately.
Battery:
To reduce the risk of personal
injury when working near a battery:
1. Always shield your eyes and
avoid leaning over a battery
whenever possible.
2. Do not expose a battery to
open flames or sparks.
3. Be sure any batteries that have filler caps are
properly filled with fluid.
4. Do not allow battery acid to contact eyes or skin.
Flush any contacted area with water immediately
and get medical help.
5. When working with battery acid, always use
protective equipment, such as, but not limited to,
goggles, face shield, rubber gloves and apron.
STORAGE SAFETY
1. Store fuel in an approved container in a cool dry
place.
2. Keep the machine and fuel containers in a
locked storage place to prevent tampering and to
keep children from playing with them.
3. Before storing, allow the engine to cool and drain
fuel completely from fuel tanks and containers.
4. Never store the machine or fuel container near
heating appliances or an open flame, such as a
pilot light in a water heater.
