16. Troubleshooting

The following table shows fault symptoms and describes remedial measures in the event of your machine failing to
work properly. If you cannot localise and rectify the problem with this, please contact your service workshop.
Fault
Untidy compaction pattern.
Oil loss from the engine.
Engine runs but the tamper runs
irregularly
Engine will not start
Engine starts but the tamper
does not move.
Engine gets too hot

Possible cause
Rammer foot worn out.
Worn seals, radial sealing rings.
Soil surface is too hard.
Soil is too wet, the rammer foot
gets stuck.
Thick layer of dirt on the rammer
foot.
Broken parts in the tamping
system.
Broken or bad spring
Engine speed is set too high.
Clutch surface contaminated.
No fuel in the tank.
Fuel valve closed.
Air filter dirty.
Engine switch is set to "OFF".
Recoil starter defective.
No engine oil.
Spark plug dirty.
Centrifugal clutch defective.
Compacting pressure low.
Exhaust opening blocked
Cooling fins and fan blades
contaminated.

Remedy
Replace rammer foot.
Contact specialist dealer.
Compaction of the soil surface is not
possible.
Allow time to dry.
Clean the rammer foot.
Contact specialist dealer.
Clean oil and grease from the clutch
surface
Fill the tank up.
Open the fuel valve.
Clean the air filter.
Set the engine switch to "ON".
Repair the recoil starter.
Refill the engine oil.
Clean the spark plug
Replace the clutch.
Contact specialist dealer
Clean cooling fins and fan blades
