USING THE "F1" – "F2" – "F3" KEYS
Depending on the programming made on the control unit, each of these keys can control one of the functions described below:
• playback of an audio signal (message or acoustic tone) recorded on the CP 3100 control unit (remote playback).
• control of a relay with normally closed contact (NC) and/or a relay with normally open contact (NO) present on the IO 3250 digital IN-
PUT/OUTPUT boards contained in the MB 3200 sub-racks.
Example of assignment of functions to the keys:
• "F1" = "Announcement 1" playback
• "F2" = "Announcement 2" playback
• "F3" = Relay control
The three function keys can also be used simultaneously or at the same time as other functions. Some possible combinations of controls are
listed below.
• control of a first group of relays (e.g. "F1") + control of a second group of relays (e.g. "F2") + control of a third group of relays (e.g. "F3").
• playback of an audio signal recorded on the CP 3100 control unit (e.g. "F1") + control of a first group of relays (e.g. "F2") + control of a se-
cond group of relays (e.g. "F3").
• transmission of an announcement using the console microphone ("PTT" key) + control of a first group of relays (e.g. "F1") + control of a se-
cond group of relays (e.g. "F2").
• alarm function control ("ALARM" key) + control of a first group of relays (e.g. "F1") + control of a second group of relays (e.g. "F2").
• playback of the message recorded locally on the console ("PLAY" key) + control of a first group of relays (e.g. "F1") + control of a second
group of relays (e.g. "F2").
IMPORTANT NOTES
• It is not possible to use two function keys simultaneously that are configured to play back an audio signal recorded on the CP 3100 control
unit.
• It is not possible to request simultaneously the transmission of a microphone announcement and the playback of a message recorded on
the CP 3100 control unit or on the console.
• It is not possible to request simultaneously the playback of an audio signal recorded on the CP 3100 control unit and the playback of a mes-
sage recorded on the console.

CONFIGURING THE CONSOLE

CONSOLE ADDRESS ASSIGNMENT

A number, or "address", is associated to each BM 3616 console in the system, which is used for identifying and handling the consoles. The
address number can be from 1 to 16 (maximum number of BM 3616 consoles). To assign the address, proceed as described below.
1) Press "CLEAR" and "ENTER" together and then release them. The following message will appear on the console display, in which the
currently assigned address is shown in the field marked "parameter" (e.g. "ADDRESS = 4").
2) Press one of the 16 numerical keys on the console (ref. 1 - Fig. 1, page 132) to set the new address of the console at a number from 1 to
16. The message on the display is updated with the new address number. To change an address just assigned, press one of the 16 nu-
merical keys again. For example, when the console address is changed from number "1" to number "4", the message on the display will
change from "ADDRESS = 01" to "ADDRESS = 04".
IMPORTANT NOTE
• We recommend that you assign the consoles consecutive address numbers in increasing ordre from 1 to 16.
3a) Press "ENTER" (ref. 16 – Fig. 1, page 132) to store the address assigned. The initial procedure for checking all the console parameters is
run again, and one of the messages described in the in the section "CONSOLE SWITCH-ON" will appear on the display.
3b) Press "F1" or "CLEAR" to exit from the menu without saving the setting made. If the parameter had been previously set, the display will
show the last message displayed before going into the menu for assigning console addresses. If the parameter had not been previously
set, the console display will show the message: "ADDRESS = ??".
IMPORTANT NOTES
• When a new address is assigned to a console, communication with the CP 3100 control unit is interrupted in order to prevent potential
conflicts with other devices of the system which are currently active.
• To prevent malfunctions, it is essential never to assign the same address to two BM 3616 consoles.
• After each change of a console address, the system must be reconfigured by means of the CP 3100 control unit (see the user ma-
nual for the RX 3000 system).

CONFIGURING THE PRE-ANNOUNCEMENT SIGNAL

The following procedure is used for selecting the number of tones (from zero to three) of the signal that will precede microphone announce-
ments.
1) Press "CLEAR" and "ENTER" together and then release them. The following message will appear on the console display.
2) Press "F3". The message below appears on the console display, with the number of tones currently selected shown in the field marked
"parameter".
