(24) Microphone
Used for making announcements.
(25) Lighted ring
This ring lights up to indicate that the console microphone is activated and it is possible to make an announcement.
(26) Output for headphones
Used for connecting headphones or an amplified speaker for listening to the message recorded locally and stored in the console me-
mory (see the section "LOCAL MESSAGE PLAYBACK TEST"), or for listening to the console microphone and related pre-announcement
signal. The socket accepts 3.5 mm mono jacks. By configuring certain internal jumpers, listening to the console microphone and rela-
ted pre-announcement signal can be excluded (see the section "CONFIGURING THE INTERNAL JUMPERS").
IMPORTANT NOTE
• Local listening of the microphone signal by means of an amplified speaker must be carefully evaluated in order to prevent acoustic
feedback (Larsen effect).
(27) Cable guide
Used for connection cable output.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT NOTE
• Avoid installing the unit in places that are subject to high-intensity vibrations or particularly exposed to dust or humidity.
The console can be set directly on any flat surface, thanks to the rubber feet provided.

INSTALLING THE LABELS

The following operations are used for inserting three labels underneath the plastic membrane that covers the console in order to mark the 16
numerical keys and the "F1", "F2", "F3" and "GENERAL CALL" keys.
1) Unscrew the 4 screws that attach the plastic left side piece of the base. Two of the screws are located on the side and two on the bot-
tom.
2) Remove the plastic side piece.
3) Make 3 strips of paper sized 170x6 mm and write on them the indications for marking the various console keys.
4) Insert the three strips of paper in the gap between the plastic membrane and the aluminium body of the console.
5) Re-fit the plastic side piece.

CONNECTIONS

CAUTION
• For connecting the console, use only qualified and experienced personnel having sufficient technical knowledge or specific instructions
for making the connections correctly and thus preventing any electrical dangers.
• Before using the console, re-check that all the connections have been made correctly to ensure that there are no accidental short cir-
cuits.
• The entire sound system must be designed and installed in compliance with the current standards and laws regarding electrical systems.
IMPORTANT NOTE
• To prevent inductive phenomena from causing humming or disturbance that may jeopardize efficient console operation, the audio connec-
tion cables should never be run in the vicinity of:
1) equipment that produces strong magnetic fields (e.g. large power transformers).
2) electrical energy conductors.
3) speaker supply lines.

CONNECTING THE INTERNAL TERMINAL STRIPS

The three terminal strips situated inside the base can be accessed as follows.
1) Unscrew the 4 screws that attach the plastic left side piece of the base. Two of the screws are located on the side and two on the bot-
tom.
2) Remove the plastic side piece.
The function of the three terminal strips is as follows (Fig. 2, page 133).
• Terminal strip (A): used for console power supply with a constant voltage of 24 Vdc (from 16 Vdc to 30 Vdc).
• Terminal strip (B): balanced serial port for connection with the CP 3100 control unit.
• Terminal strip (C): output for line level balanced audio signal.
