Mounting and connection

5.1

Pre-installation requirements

The following mounting and connection guidelines are suggested as the preferred method.
However, varying types of conditions and surrounding physical environments will dictate
the actual mounting and connection. The installation must be in accordance with all local
NOTE
regulations.
The control unit is bolted on to the mounting plate and the mounting plate secured to a
wooden board to lock them in place during transport. Both can be removed.
In order to ensure correct operation of the unit, the following points have to be considered:
• Power connection options 230 V AC, 50/60 Hz at a distance of max. 4.5 to the control
unit
• Compressed air supply at 2 (Connexx Basic) rather 3.5 (Connexx Switch) till 6 bar flow
pressure at device input
• Mounting height (lower edge of lifting vessel) between 0-1 m above the top edge of the
container.
• Distance between unit and product supply container has to be as short as possible
(length of the suction connection, max. 3 m). To ensure the improved ventilation of the
suction tube this should always be designed so that it rises in the direction of the lifting
vessel.
• If the dosing station is below the lifting vessel it becomes necessary to use a pressure
control valve rather a metering valve with appropriate opening pressure in order to avoid
that the lifting vessel empty over the pump(s).
Fig. 5.1
• To avoid any significant stresses being placed on the CONNEXX system and coupling
connections to the container by the Click & Plug coupling or suction hoses hanging down,
installation of a strain reliever for the suction hose is recommended.
• The installation site should be selected so that the exhaust air line from the ejector can
be run into a safe area. Very long suction lines can reduce the suction power of the
injector and necessitate an increased in the nominal diameter (see chapter 4.1.3).
