9.4. Surgical suction

Surgical suction must be cleaned and disinfected with a disinfectant formu-
lated for this purpose.
ATTENTION!
Use only a diluted solution of STER 3 PLUS (Castellini) as a liquid
disinfectant.
As concerns the amount of disinfectant and percentage of solution
follow the instructions provided with the product.
At the end of each surgical procedure.
• Perform an automatic fl ushing cycle (if present) or suck in about half a liter
of the disinfecting solution with each of the suction tubes used.
• Sterilize the ends of the tube holder in autoclave with water steam at up to
135 °C (2 bar), minimum time 15 min.
At the end of each work day.
• Draw in 1 liter of water with each suction tube, alternating water and air
(keep the suction tube alternately in and out of the water).
• Once rinsed with water, draw in approximately half a liter of the disinfecting
solution with each of the suction tubes used.
NOTE: After disinfecting, it is good practise to draw in air only to dry
the entire suction system (5 minutes).
Once a week
ATTENTION!
Perform this operation with the suction tube raised to keep suction
on.
• Remove the suction tube body from its cord fi tting and lubricate the o-rings
[ a ] with S1-Protection for o-rings.
Once a year
Replace the suction tubes and ends of the tube holder.
