5.6. Scaler

Connecting the handpiece and inserts.
Refer to the specifi c instructions furnished with the handpiece.
ATTENTION!
Before attempting to connect the handpiece, make certain the contacts
are perfectly dry. Blow air from the syringe, if necessary, to dry.
Use.
• Operating time:
- PIEZOSTERIL 5 scalers: continuous operation,
- PIEZOSTERIL 6 scalers: continuous operation,
- PIEZOLIGHT 6 scalers: continuous operation.
- SURGISON 2: scalers: continuous operation.
• Place the instrument in its work position.
• Use the foot control pedal to start the instrument (see paragraph 5.2).
• The cock [ f ] adjusts the cooling water fl ow.
ATTENZIONE!
The instrument is supplied non-sterile.
Safety guidelines
ATTENTION!
• Make sure the threaded sections of the inserts and handpiece are perfectly clean.
• Do not change the shape of the inserts.
• Check wear and tear of the inserts on a regular basis, replacing them in the following cases:
- obvious wear
- drop in performance
- out of shape or banged.
• Note for PIEZOLIGHT 6 scalers:
- Class 1 LED apparatus;
- Do not direct the light beam in anyone's eyes When cleaning or servicing the device (it is recommended to keep the fi ber optics shut off).
Adjusting the scaler's power.
• Put the instrument in its work position.
• Use the buttons INCREASE and/or DECREASE.
NOTE: The following values can be set using the fast selection buttons:
- button "MAX": 100% power,
- button "MED": 50% power,
- button "MIN": 25% power,
• Use the right multifunction button to select
The icon indicating the selected mode appears on the display beside the
set maximum power percentage.
a) Icon : : Linear variation, proportional to the degree the foot control
lever is moved.
b) Icon : ON/OFF mode which sees that the set maximum power is
delivered when the foot control lever is actuated.
NOTE: The set data are automatically saved
ENDO function.
The scaler functions at 1/2 the set maximum power.
• Put the instrument in its work position.
• Press the MENU button to activate the ENDO function.
ENDO will appear in place of NORMAL on the display to confi rm the mode
of operation has been changed.
• Press the MENU button again to go back to normal operation.
NOTE: the ENDO function is deactivated when the foot control
switch is actuated.
