7.3. Continuous disinfecting system combined with the device for
separation from potable water line to prevent backfl ow in com-
pliance with European standard EN 1717 (M.W.B. system)
The M.W.B. system assures secure physical separation of the dental unit
hydrogroup from the municipal water line thanks to a section with free-fall
water. In addition, the system continuously lets hydrogen peroxide into the
water circuit obtaining a fi nal concentration of 0.06% in the ducts which is
suitable for bacteriostasis.
Description of the system.
The M.W.B. system is located in the utility service center and is always
active.
A specifi c icon [ a ] appears on the doctor's console to signal the M.W.B.
system is turned on.
A tank [ C ], located in the hydrogroup, holds approximately 970 cc of
hydrogen peroxide to feed the system.
The M.W.B. system automatically turns off when the S.S.S. system (if
present) turns on.
Signaling the hydrogen peroxide level is low.
When the hydrogen peroxide present in the tank [ a ] is about to run out
(at about 230 cc.) the icon [ C ] displayed changes into [ D ] and 1 BEEP
is emitted.
NOTE: the icon ( D ) is black if the M.W.B. system is turned on
while it is red if the M.W.B. system is turned off.
ATTENTION!
If the hydrogen peroxide runs out, the operatory continues running
but uses municipal water that is NOT treated.
Filling the hydrogen peroxide tank.
Follow the instructions given below to fi ll the hydrogen peroxide tank:
• Remove the hydrogen peroxide tank [ a ].
• Take off the cap [k] and fi ll the tank with hydrogen peroxide.
NOTE: the shape of the cap allows it to be used as a funnel to more
easily fi ll the tank.
• Put the cap and tank back into place.
• Close the cover on the side of the hydrogroup.
ATTENTION!
Fill only with a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution (10 volumes).
Emptying the M.W.B. system tank
This function permits the M.W.B. system's water circuit to be drained, if the
dental unit is going to be left off for several days.
The procedure for emptying the tank is given in paragraph 5.1.1.3.3.
Fault messages shown on the console display.
If the system detects a malfunction, a fault message appears on the display
screen (see paragraph 11.).
If the fault found is minor, the dental unit continues to operate. On the other
hand, if a serious fault is detected, the dental unit shuts down and it is ne-
cessary to call technical support.
Hydrogen peroxide storage.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions given on the package to correctly
store the solution of hydrogen peroxide.
ATTENTION!
Never leave hydrogren peroxide in the tank (a) for more than one month.
When you are going to be away from the offi ce for an extended period of time (holiday), always empty the tank (a) before leaving.
NOTE: use a suction tube to empty the tank.
