Intended use

The electric multi-point lock 819N is suitable for installation in single-leaf tubular frame or solid-leaf doors
(backset 55 mm or greater) made of metal or wood.
It is designed to provide door locking in security areas and is approved for use in emergency exit door
locks according to EN 179 and panic door locks according to EN 1125.
· With two-leaf escape doors, the inactive leaf must also be designed as an escape door and must be
equipped with a passive leaf lock ("Accessories", page 78).
· If the inactive leaf is not designed as an escape door, the electric multi-point lock 819N may only be
installed in the two-leaf door when the inactive leaf can be securely held in place with zero play and the
active leaf runs against a stop edge.
With double-leaf doors with rebated meeting stile and panic locks in each leaf, the leaf must open when
the panic door lock is actuated. Both leaves must open freely if both panic door locks are actuated at the
same time. This may require a door coordinator to be installed.
For double-leaf doors with rebated meeting stile and door closer, the correct door closing sequence must
be assured; otherwise the function of fire doors or smoke protection doors, in particular, is not guaran-
teed. It may be necessary to install a follower.
It is suitable for use on fire doors (smoke protection doors). All applicable provisions for the approval of
protective doors must be observed.
The electric multi-point lock 819N is available in a special version without escape door function. This special
version is not permitted for use in escape doors according to EN 179 and panic doors according to
EN 1125. The special version is equipped with a continuous handle follower (continuous square spindle).
The inner and outer door handles are always engaged or disengaged simultaneously by an electrical
trigger action.
Since the lock is equipped with a door contact, only suitable striking plates may be used ("Accessories",
page 78).
