17 Switching the Trimmer /

17.1
Switching On
WARNING
■ To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries to
the operator or bystanders, keep hands, feet
and other parts of the body away from the cut‐
ting attachment,
cutting attachment while the battery is inser‐
ted. Never touch the moving cutting attach‐
ment with your hand or any part of your body,

Before switching on:
► Make sure you have a secure and firm footing.
► Stand upright.
► Always hold and operate the trimmer / brush‐
cutter with the rear hand firmly on the gripping
surface (2) of the control handle and your front
hand firmly on the loop handle.
► When operating the trimmer / brushcutter with
a metal cutting attachment, always grip the
rear handle with your right hand and the front
handle with your left hand. This applies to all
operators, even those who are left-handed.
To switch the trimmer / brushcutter on:

► While holding the trigger switch lockout, push
the retaining button (4) forward with your
thumb and release it.
The LEDs indicate the current power level.
► Squeeze the trigger switch (3) with your index
finger.
The cutting attachment will start moving.
You can also unlock the trigger switch by push‐
ing the retaining button forward and depressing
the trigger switch lockout within 5 seconds (as
long as the LEDs are flashing). Squeeze the trig‐
ger switch with your index finger to start the cut‐
ting attachment.
The motor will not switch on unless the trigger
switch lockout is depressed, the retaining button
has been pushed forward and the trigger switch
has been pressed.
If the trigger switch and the trigger switch lockout
are released, the LEDs will remain flashing for
approximately 5 seconds. As long as the LEDs
are flashing, the trimmer / brushcutter can again
be switched on without pushing the retaining but‐
ton forward.
The further the trigger switch is squeezed, the
faster the cutting attachment will rotate.
17.2
Switching Off
WARNING
■ The cutting attachment will continue to move
for a short while after the trigger switch is
released. To avoid serious or fatal injury, avoid
contact with the moving cutting attachment. To
reduce the risk of personal injury from uninten‐
ded activation or unauthorized use, switch off
the motor, ensure the cutting attachment has
stopped and remove the battery before trans‐
porting the unit or putting it down.
To switch the trimmer / brushcutter off:
► Release the trigger switch and trigger switch
lockout so that the trigger switch springs back
to the locked position. In the locked position,
activation of the trigger switch is blocked by
the trigger switch lockout. Activation of the
trimmer / brushcutter is also electronically
blocked by the retaining button once the LEDs
stop flashing (after approximately 5 seconds).
The cutting attachment will continue to move for
a short time after the trigger switch is released.
Take care to avoid contact after releasing the
trigger switch and when setting down the trim‐
mer / brushcutter.
