PROBLEM
Engine will not start.
Engine is hard to start.
Engine lacks power.
DC receptacle does not work.
AC receptacle does not work.
Generator makes a "spark
knock" or "pinging" noise.

TROUBLESHOOTING
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Engine/choke lever is in run position.
No fuel.
Stale gasoline or water in gasoline.
Lubricant level is low.
Spark plug faulty, fouled, or improperly
gapped.
Engine stored without treating or draining
gasoline, or refueled with bad gasoline.
Dirty fuel fi lter.
Water in gasoline.
Weak spark at spark plug.
Engine stored without treating or draining
gasoline, or refueled with bad gasoline.
Dirty air fi lter.
Circuit protector engaged
Item plugged in is defective.
Item plugged in is defective.
Generator is overloaded.
An occasional light "knocking" or "pinging"
under heavy load is not a cause for concern.
However, if the knocking or pinging occurs
under normal load at a steady engine speed,
the problem may be with the brand of gasoline
being used.

SOLUTION
Move engine/choke lever to start
position.
Fill the fuel tank.
Drain entire system and refi ll with fresh
fuel.
Check engine lubricant level and fi ll, if
necessary.
Replace spark plug.
Drain fuel and carburetor. Refuel with
fresh gasoline.
Replace fuel fi lter or contact authorised
service centre.
Drain entire system and refi ll with fresh
fuel.
Contact authorised service centre.
Drain fuel and carburetor. Refuel with
fresh gasoline. If problem continues,
contact your nearest authorised
service centre.
Clean or replace as needed.
Remove any load from the generator.
Turn the auto idle switch to off, then
