Tie the main Fisherman halyard 32.6 to the ring! - Fig. 298.
Apply SP-EX to the final 15 mm of the halyard to stiffen the
cord.
Splice the halyard 32.7, the stretcher 32.8 and the sheet
32.9 to the appropriate thimbles.
Thread the main halyard through the split pin 23.26a and
belay it.
Note: if you intend to sail the boat with the Fisherman sail
set, then the schooner topmast stay 24.33 should be dis-
connected at the split pin 23.29. Run the hook and stay
through the ring 32.5 and connect it to the mainstay fitting
23.20. Secure the main halyard 32.6 with the stay 24.33
under tension - Figs. 299 and 300.
Run the halyard 32.7 down through the split pin 23.29 or
the hook 24.34 and belay it.
Belay the stretcher 32.8. Note: if you find that creases
appear in the sail when the boat is sailing, the stretcher
can be diverted through one of the mast rings.
The sheet 32.9 is attached to the reefing cleat 30.15 at a
later stage.

Run the winch to the other end-point, disconnect the block
on the boom and pull all the sheet's length onto the deck.
Thread the loose end through the tubular rivet 9.4 and the
tube 9.3 - Fig. 118. Tie the end to the hook 9.22 so that
both parts of the sheet are of equal length - Fig. 302.
To check the system disconnect the block again, and run
the winch to the close-hauled end-point. The main boom
should now be straight at the centre position, without pla-
cing the rigging under tension.
