Solder the washers 10.14 to the ends of the brake band
10.13; they should be central and spaced 40 mm apart -
see Fig. 122.
-
Note: hold the washers in a pair of pliers to drill them out.
-
Drill the brake band and cut off the projecting ends.
-
Curve the brake band to follow the shape of the brake disc.
Bend the crank 10.15 to shape and solder it to the screw
10.16.
-
Mount the brake spindle on the brake disc using the two
nuts 10.17: Figs. 121 and 122.
-
Insert the axle in the right-hand bracket and press the gear
10.18 onto it. Check that it lines up correctly with the pini-
on.
-
Fit the remaining washers 10.14 and the left-hand bracket
on the axle.
-
Press the plastic cranks 10.19 onto the axle.
-
Glue the two capstan heads 10.20 on the shaft and set
them flush with the ends - Fig. 123.
-
Glue the completed winch in the appropriate holes in the
deck.
-
Glue a length of anchor chain 10.22 in each chain inlet
10.21, using enough glue to make the joint watertight. Glue
the chain inlet to the deck with the opening facing aft - Fig.
124.
-
Glue the ventilator spigots 10.23 in the three vacant 5 mm
Ø holes; they should project by 6 mm.

Invert the deck and apply a fillet of ST-E round all the spi-
got ends from the underside - Fig. 125.
The deck is glued to the hull using ST-E; we strongly
recommend that you ask a friend to help you with this pro-
cedure, as you need to work quickly. You will need the
locating screws 5.6 and at least 30 spring clamps. To save
time the nuts 5.7 are not fitted on the screws when the hull
and deck are joined; the screws serve only to align the
parts, and the clamps are used to hold the parts together.
Tape the sheets and anchor chains out of the way, so that
they cannot get tangled up during the gluing process.
It is essential to work swiftly at this stage, as the pot-life of
the glue is only about 10 minutes.
Mix up plenty of ST-E and apply it evenly and fairly
generously to the joint flange of the hull.
Place the deck on the hull at the stem, fit the first pair of
screws (right and left) in the flange holes and fit the first
pair of clamps immediately adjacent to the screws.
Fit the second pair of screws followed by two more clamps.
Now fit an extra clamp between each pair of clamps on
both sides - Fig. 126.
Continue with this procedure until you reach the stern,
clamping the deck to the hull as you go. Allow the resin to
cure, then remove the screws; they are no longer required.
If any of the screws has become stuck, heat it with a sol-
dering iron to break the bond.
