6.3 Sound insulation

Sound emissions from the ventilation system
are dependent on many factors, e.g. the con-
struction of the building, ventilation compo-
nents, etc.
For this reason, install the ventilation system
as per the planning and/or manufacturer
specifications.
Incorrect setting without
NOTICE
system adjustment.
After installation, the system
must be adjusted and the
setting logged.
6.3.1 Noise emissions from the ventilation
unit
WS 170 comfort and bypass units
These units are designed for installation in
functional rooms such as kitchens and bath-
rooms. At a volumetric flow above 100 m³/h,
the housing emission exceeds the sound
power level of 35 dB(A). If the device is to
be operated with a higher volumetric flow,
the customer should fit additional sound-
deadening encapsulation.
WS 170 standard units
WS 170 standard units achieve a housing
emission with a sound power level of more
than 35 dB(A) across the entire volumetric
flow range. Additional sound-deadening en-
capsulation is always needed in such cases.
Recommendation: Install the ventilation unit
in a room that has a sufficient level of sound
insulation from the remaining living area.
6.3.2 Design of the air channels
Noise emission values will be
NOTICE
too high if there is no sound
absorber.
Observe the prescribed sound
pressure level of < 25 dB(A) in
living areas and < 30 dB(A) in
functional areas. Always insert
sound absorber in the ventila-
tion channels, e.g. RSR 12/50.
Recommendation: Install telephony sound
absorbers to reduce the sound transfer
between the individual rooms.

6.4 Condensate drain

Condensate is formed during heat recovery
that has to be correctly extracted through the
condensate drain (Chapter 6.6, Item VI).
1. Release the two quick-release clips and
remove the front cover.

2. Attach the condensate elbow [16.1]
supplied to the condensate discharge
outlet [A] on the bottom of the ventilation
unit. The condensate elbow has a sleeve
with a lip seal and can be turned in any
direction (360°).
3. Professionally connect a drain pipe [R]
(diameter 28) or a ¾" water hose [S] to the
condensate elbow. To connect the water
hose, use the reducer supplied [16.2]
(d=28mm to d=19mm).
