4.12 Bypass

WS 170 bypass units feature a bypass
channel in the front cover [1] as standard.
If the outside air is cooler than the room air
(warm time of the year), the outside air can
be fed straight into the supply air spaces via
the bypass.
The assembly and operating instructions for
the RLS D1 WR room air control contain a
description of how to set the bypass
parameters.

5. Installation preparations

5.1 Transport

● Adhere to the valid safety and accident
prevention regulations for transportation.
● The permitted maximum loading capacity
for lifting gears, chains, ropes, etc. must
be sufficient for the total weight of the
ventilation unit.
● Nobody should ever stand under a
suspended load.
5.2 Requirements at the installation
site
● Only install ventilation unit in rooms with
an ambient temperature from 10°C to
40 °C, for example in a cellar or loft.
● The ventilation unit is designed to be
mounted on the wall. Only mount on walls
with a level and hard surface to avoid
vibration noises.
● Only install ventilation unit on a wall with
sufficient load-bearing capacity with the
wall bracket provided. A solid wall with at
least 200 kg/m³ is required.
● Fit siphon. Ensure a sufficient incline of
at least 2 % for the condensate drain.
● Working room for operational and main-
tenance work. Keep at least 70 cm in front
of the unit free.

6. Installation

6.1 Procedure

1. Fit wall bracket,  Chapter 6.2.2.
2. Fit ventilation unit in wall bracket.
3. Connect the condensate drain and fill the
siphon up with water,  Chapter 6.4.
4. Connect the ventilation channels and
install protective grilles at the external
connections.
5. Install the room air control, in the living
room for example, and connect this to the
ventilation unit.
6. Install additional components as required
(CO2 sensor, external operating display).
For connection options  Chapters 6.8
to 6.14.
7. Connect up the mains power and
commission the ventilation unit. Adjust the
volumetric flow for the 3 ventilation levels
through the 6 potentiometer adjusters on
the control circuit board  Chapters 7.3
and 7.4.
8. Set up the planned air volumes at all
supply air and exhaust valves, using a
suitable measuring instrument to take the
measurements.

6.2 Installation of ventilation unit

6.2.1 Important installation information
● Installation work may only be undertaken
by an authorised specialist ( Chapter 1).
● Take the planning documents prepared by
the engineering office and the local regula-
tions into account.
● Take the technical data listed in
Chapter 10 into account.
● On-site work (drain, wall coating, etc.)
must all have been completed before
installation, as the ventilation unit cannot
be moved again once the ducting is
connected.
