Storing/Conveyor station

11 Function

The Storing/Conveyor station can differentiate between the colors of workpieces and store these on six
levels in two rows. When using MPS
different sensors, the workpiece is identified by an external controller and the result communicated to stock
administration. The workpiece identified can then be stored on one of 6 storage levels.
A Cartesian handling system with stepper motors is used to handle the workpieces. By means of appropriate
programming, the storage system can be located within a MPS
(receiving) or used as a buffer station.

11.1 Possible types of control

The station can be controlled via the IEEE 488/24-pin compatible plug connector with a PLC board or an
I/O simulation box.

11.2 Storage

The Storing/Conveyor station conveys incoming workpieces to the handover point on the conveyor during
the receiving process. In doing so, the workpieces pass through the Detection module. The Detection
module detects different colors of workpieces (black, red, silver or transparent) using a combination of
sensors. If boxes are to be placed into storage however, evaluation with the sensor is no longer required.
The signal evaluated is communicated by an external control system and a start signal is sounded. The
planar surface gantry then moves to pick up position and the pneumatic gripper grips the workpiece.
The workpieces are conveyed by the planar surface gantry to the next free rack on the corresponding
storage level depending on their color. 8 workpieces each can be deposited on each level.
Alternatively, following conversion of the gripper and the storage levels, boxes can also be placed into
storage. A maximum of 6 boxes may be stored per storage level.
