15.3 Starting automatic mode

On each start, the planar surface gantry is homed by the station's controller. During homing, the planar
surface gantry with the gripper travels automatically to the topmost right-hand point within its work area.
Start procedure
1. Press the "Reset" button for 3 seconds.
The gripper moves to initial position and then planar surface gantry performs homing.
If homing is successful, the green start LED will light up.
2. Select receive or issue mode:
Receive mode – turn the key switch to the vertical position.
Issue mode – turn the key switch to the horizontal position.
3. Press the "Start" button.
Storage mode
The station is ready and automatically detects a workpiece in the holding unit, then conveys it to the
transfer point and places it in storage.
Retrieval mode
By inputting I7 on the control console or on the visualization, the workpiece set in the web service can be
requisitioned.
Note
During homing, if the planar surface gantry with gripper does not move automatically to the
topmost right-hand point within its work area, homing will have to be repeated.
(First press the "Stop" button for 3 seconds, then the "Reset" button for 3 seconds.)
If repeating homing is not possible, remove the station from operation and contact Festo Didactic
Service.

Caution
Risk of injury and damage to property due to uncontrolled motion of the connected
drives.
Remove all objects from the travel path and do not reach into the planar surface
gantry's work area.
