TESTER GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The AEB215 Hand-held Tester can be used with LEONARDO and GALILEO electronic control units.
By using this tester it is possible to change the programming and display the parameters of the ECU to
which it has been connected.
Tester Description
1) Plug for external power supply to be used for possible updates of
the device.
2) Connection plug to the ECU.
3) Dot matrix, lit Liquid Crystal Display.
4) Key to increase values; move the cursor to a higher position and
display preceeding page.
5) Key to exit page.
6) Key to confirm data or to enter a page.
7) Key to decrease values; move the cursor to a lower position and
display following page.
8) Key to access the display page directly.
Turning the tester on
AEB215 Tester turns on automatically when connected, through the
appropriate harness, to a LEONARDO or GALILEO E.C.U. whose ground
wire and battery wire have been connected. Once the tester turns
on, the A.E.B. logo, the language used and the program version are
displayed (Fig. 1). By pressing any key, the tester automatically
connects to the E.C.U.. The menu of the tester changes
automatically according to the E.C.U. type to which the tester
is connected. For this reason, this manual deals separately
with the two menus for the LEONARDO and the GALILEO.
Selecting the Language
To change the language of the tester, proceed as follows: connect
the tester to the E.C.U. so that the A.E.B. logo appears on the display
(Fig. 1). Press key "ESC" for about four seconds. The display will
then show the SELECT LANGUAGE option and the language
presently used. By using either key w w w w w or x x x x x , select the desired
language among those available and confirm the choice by pressing
key "OK".
The display will then show the A.E.B. logo again, and underneath it
the selected language. Press any key to enter the "MAIN MENU".
Tester Operation
Although the menus change according to the E.C.U. to which the
tester is connected, the operation of the tester is the same.
Use key "OK" to enter the selected option from the "MAIN MENU"
(Fig. 2). Once the option has been entered (Fig. 3), use key "OK" to
access "modify value" mode to change the option or the selected
value (Fig. 4).
A black background highlights the selected item to be changed.
After the option or value has been changed, press key "OK" to confirm
and to exit the "modify value" mode.
Key w w w w w and x x x x x allow the scrolling of menus and options. When in
"modify value" mode, the same keys are used to change the current
datum or to increase or decrease its value.
Press key "∗ ∗ ∗ ∗ ∗ " to move from the present page to the DISPLAY page
directly. By pressing key "∗ ∗ ∗ ∗ ∗ " again, it is possible to go back to the
last page displayed. This function is disabled during the "modify value"
mode, that is, when the black background is displayed on an item.
Press key "ESC" to exit the present option and return to the "MAIN
MENU". If the "modify value" mode is engaged, it is automatically
disabled and all changes not confirmed with key "OK" are deleted.
