Thank you for choosing Rollerblade
Before using your inline skates for the first time, carefully read through these instructions
and keep them in a safe place for future reference as needed.
Rollerblade
®
inline skates belong to class A (for max 100 kg / 220 lb weight users) and
class B (for max 60 kg / 132 lb weight users) according to the DIN EN 13843 standard.
Please check the label under or inside your skate to determine which class applies.
SKATE SMART
Think safety first! Inline skating, like any sport that involves motion, may involve serious
health risks or even mortal injuries. To reduce your risk of injury, always wear protective
gear that is specific for inline skating (helmet, wristguards, elbow and knee pads) as well
as reflective devices.
CONTROL YOUR SPEED
Don't go too fast. Remember that you can quickly gain speed going downhill regardless
of the grade or size of the hill. Make sure you know how to control your speed and stop
before skating on any inclined surfaces.
STOP SAFELY
Knowing how to stop is a crucial and important element for enjoying inline skating.
Rollerblade
®
inline skates come equipped with a brake system, on the right skate or in the
box,* which is designed to stop you slowly. It will not provide an immediate stop. The
faster you are skating, the longer and the greater the distance it will take to stop.
Be sure to keep your eyes on the road and begin braking with enough time to stop safely.
To use the brake properly, bend your knees slightly to lower your body position over the
skates and make sure that the braking foot is more forward than the other one. Lift up
your toes so the heel brake grips the ground below but do not lean the upper body too
far forward. The firmer you press down with your heel (press on the brake pad), the more
effective the stopping power will be - Visual instruction (1). Rollerblade
with a wear limit line. Brake pads should be replaced once the wear limit line is reached
otherwise you risk the loss of braking force, the loss of control, and consequent injury.
* Some higher end skates do not include any brakes due to the nature and higher skill level
of the skating style.
WARNING
It is highly recommended to leave the brake on the skate. Slowing down and stopping
without a brake requires expert skills. If you decide to skate without a brake, you do
so at your own risk.

IMPORTANT

If the skate has no brake, use conventional braking techniques such as the "T" or "V"
stopping techniques. Not recommended for beginners.
