INFORMATIONS SUPPLIED BY THE MANUFECTURER: USER LEAFLET
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND MAINTENANCE OF BLS FULL FACE MASKS.
PREFACE These instructions refer to the BLS series of full face masks: BLS
5150 BLS 5400, BLS 5250 BLS 5500, 3150, 3150V 3400, BLS 5600 BLS 5700.
The BLS full face masks must be used and maintained in accordance with the
following instructions as far as the use, the limitations and the maintenance are
concerned. Incorrect use, use of unsuitable spare parts or bad maintenance
is dangerous for health and safety and invalidates the guarantee exonerating
the manufacturer from all liability. It has to be stressed that personal protective
equipments for respiratory protection must always be used by specially trained
people, supervised by a person perfectly aware of the limits of application of those
devices and of the laws that are in being in the Country concerned. Warning If you
lose this leaflet or if you require further copies, please contact the address below
and quote this code number: ISU 031_01.The product has been examined at the
design stage by Italcert, Milano – Italia (0426). These full face masks have shown
to meet the health and safety certification requirements European Regulation
425/2016. The BLS full face masks are CE marked and have been tested
according to the EN 136:1998 standard's requirements. BLS Srl Via Morghen,

The full face masks of BLS 5000 series with the EN 148-1 connection are
classified according to the EN 136:1998 standard into class 3 (full face mask for
special use) and are composed by:
§ External face seal Synthetic rubber (BLS 5150), silicone (BLS 5400)
§ Extra wide panoramic visor moulded in polycarbonate
§ Frontal component which is a support for the exhalation valve with its holder
§ Inner mask to reduce dead space moulded in silicone provided with two air
circulation valves which prevent the visor from the steaming up and towards the
formation of an excessive carbon dioxide level in the exhaled air
§ Head harness with six straps, moulded in synthetic rubber with quick fastening
buckles
§ collar for wearing the mask around the neck during the breaks (only for BLS
5400 model)
The full face masks of BLS 5000 series with two filters BLS 300 are classified
according to the EN 136:1998 standard into class 2 (full face mask for general
use) and are composed by:
§ External face seal Synthetic rubber (BLS 5250), silicone (BLS 5500)
§ Extra wide panoramic visor moulded in polycarbonate
§ Frontal component which is a support for the exhalation valve
§ Two lateral filter holders with special BLS 300 filters connection
§ Inner mask to reduce dead space moulded in silicone provided with two air
circulation valves which prevent the visor from the steaming up and towards the
formation of an excessive carbon dioxide level in the exhaled air
§ Head harness with six straps, moulded in synthetic rubber with quick fastening
buckles
§ collar for wearing the mask around the neck during the breaks (only for BLS

The full face masks of 3000 series with the EN 148-1 connection are classified
according to the EN 136:1998 standard into class 2 (full face mask for general
use) and are composed by:
§ Face seal Natural rubber (3150, 3150V), silicone rubber (3400)
§ Extra wide panoramic visor moulded in polycarbonate (3150, 3400) or glass
(3150V)
§ Frontal component which is a support for the exhalation valve
§ Inner mask to reduce dead space moulded in silicone provided with two air
circulation valves which prevent the visor from the steaming up and towards the
formation of an excessive carbon dioxide level in the exhaled air
§ Head harness, moulded in rubber with quick fastening buckles
§ The full face masks of BLS 5000 series with the bayonet connection are
classified according to the EN 136:1998 standard into class 2 (full face mask
for general use) and are composed by:
§ External face seal Synthetic rubber (BLS 5600), silicone (BLS 5700)

The one size full face masks are designed to achieve a perfect seal with no
vexatious pressures on the most of the face shapes.

1.4 Selection of breathing protector equipped with filter To select this kind
of personal protective devices it is necessary to consider the following indicators:
Silicone Rubber
NPF (nominal protection factor) is the value came from the maximum percentage
of total inward leakage allowed by the relevant European standard (NPF = 100/ %
Natural Rubber
(polycarbonate Visor)
maximum total inward leakage admitted). APF (assigned protection factor) is the
level of respiratory protection that can realistically be expected to be achieved by
correctly fitted respirator (it is different for each State). TLV (threshold limit value) is
Natural Rubber
a concentration threshold - generally expressed in parts per million, ppm – for the
(glass visor)
safety of the people exposed to dangerous substances. The APF multiplied by the
TLV of the substance gives the concentration of pollutants to which an operator can
Silicone Rubber

be exposed wearing a specific device. For the selection and maintenance of the
filtering devices and for the definition and use of APF and NPF also refers to the

European Standard EN 529 and to the relevant national regulations.
