Installation

12. Loosen the impeller fastening nut (Fig. 6, Item 1.11), remove the
lock washer (Fig. 6, Item 1.12) beneath it and pull the impeller
(Fig. 3, Item 1.13) from the pump shaft.
CAUTION! Risk of property damage!
Risk of damaging shaft, coupling and impeller due to improper
handling.
• If dismantling is difficult or if the impeller jams, do not hit the
impeller or shaft from the side (e.g. with a hammer), but instead,
use a suitable extraction tool.
13. Pull the mechanical seal (Fig. 6, Item 1.21) off the shaft.
14. Pull the coupling (Fig. 6, Item 1.4) with the pump shaft out of the
lantern.
15. Thoroughly clean the sliding/seat surfaces of the shaft. If the
shaft is damaged, it must be replaced.
16. Remove the stationary ring of the mechanical seal with the seal-
ing collar out of its seat in the lantern flange, as well as the O-ring
(Fig. 6, Item 1.14) and clean the seal seats.
17. Clean the seating surfaces of the shaft carefully.
18. Press a new mechanical seal stationary ring with collar into
the gasket seat of the lantern flange. A commercially available
dishwashing liquid can be used as a lubricant.
19. Install a new O-ring in the groove of the O-ring seat of the
lantern.
20. Check the coupling sliding surfaces. If necessary, clean and
slightly oil them.
21. Pre-install coupling shells on the pump shaft with shims inserted
in between and insert the pre-assembled coupling/shaft unit
carefully into the lantern.
22. Pull a new mechanical seal onto the shaft. A commercially availa-
ble dishwashing liquid can be used as a lubricant.
23. Install the impeller with lock washer and nut, countering at the
impeller's outer diameter while doing so. Avoid damage to the
mechanical seal due to jamming.
NOTICE:
For the following steps, observe the screw tightening torque speci-
fied for the respective thread type (see Table "Screw tightening tor-
ques" below).
24. Insert the pre-assembled lantern unit carefully into the pump
housing and screw together. As you do so, hold onto the rotating
parts of the coupling to avoid damage to the mechanical seal.
Observe the specified screw tightening torque.
NOTICE:
If a differential pressure sensor is installed on the pump, fix it in place
again when you fasten the lantern screws.
25. Slightly loosen the coupling screws. Slightly open the pre-assem-
bled coupling.
26. Install the motor using suitable hoisting gear and tighten the con-
nection between lantern and motor.
27. Slide the forked spacer (Fig. 6, Item 10) between the lantern and
coupling. The forked spacer must sit there without any play.
28. First, slightly tighten the coupling screws until the coupling half-
shells are in contact with the shims. Afterwards, screw the cou-
pling together evenly. In doing so, the specified distance between
the lantern and the coupling of 5 mm is automatically adjusted via
the forked spacer.
29. Remove the forked spacer.
