Before Initial Use

PLEASE NOTE!
There may still be some production residue on the pressure cooker. Boil water in it
before you fi rst use it and clean it thoroughly (see "Cleaning and Storage").
The pressure control valve (1) is enclosed in individual packaging so that it cannot be
damaged. It must therefore be inserted before it is fi rst used:
Insert the pressure control valve into the recess which is provided for it in the pressu-
re lid (10) and turn it slightly until it engages.
Check prior to initial use whether all positions can be set (see the "Safety Devices"
chapter | "Pressure Control Valve").
Before you fi rst use it, clean the cooker pot (6) and the pressure lid with hot water and a
little mild detergent in order to remove any possible production residues. It is also essen-
tial to follow the instructions in the "Cleaning and Storage" chapter:
1. Fill the cooker pot so that it is half full of water.
2. Place on the pressure lid.
3. Heat the pressure cooker on the stove until steam emerges from the pressure control
valve.
4. Remove the pressure cooker from the stove immediately as soon as steam escapes
and let it cool down until the pressure inside has dropped to normal pressure.
5. Remove the water once the pressure cooker has cooled down suffi ciently and then
dry it thoroughly.

Suitable Stove Types

The pressure cooker is suitable for all customary stove types (electric, gas, glass ceram-
ic, halogen and induction stove).
When using electric hotplates, induction and glass ceramic hobs, make sure that the
diameter of the plates or hobs is the same size as or smaller than the diameter of the
bottom of the cooker.
When using glass ceramic hobs, make sure that the bottom of the cooker is clean
and free of any residues. Do not push or pull the pressure cooker over the hobs to
prevent any damage. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage caused by
inappropriate use!
When using gas stoves, make sure that the gas fl ame does not shoot out beyond the
edge of the bottom of the pressure cooker. The fl ames could damage the cooker pot
or the handles.
