Pass through function

The DVD-V8000 is equipped with input connectors for com-
posite video and analog audio, and supports simple switch-
ing between the currently playing video/audio disc and video/
audio signals input from exterior sources.
This function is useful in venues such as museums or event
sites where it may be desirable to switch to an image or au-
dio source exterior to the disc currently being played. (See
page 83 for connection instructions.)
Control and display specifications
1) Operations with main unit buttons
Every time one of the three front-panel PASS THROUGH
buttons (MONITOR, VIDEO, AUDIO) is pressed, switching
is performed between the DVD's video (and/or audio) play-
back, and the exterior input image (and/or audio). The indica-
tor turns off during output of the internal disc video/audio
signal, and lights during output of exterior input image (and/
or audio) signals.
MONITOR:
When the button is pressed so that the indicator lights, video
signals input to the VIDEO IN connectors are output at MONI-
TOR VIDEO OUT.
VIDEO:
When the button is pressed so that the indicator lights, video
signals input to the VIDEO IN connectors are output at VIDEO
OUT.
AUDIO:
When the button is pressed so that the indicator lights, audio
signals input to the AUDIO IN connectors are output at AU-
DIO OUT after audio input level adjustment.
The through output function defaults to OFF when power is
first turned ON.

Exceptions
1 When no video signal is input to VIDEO IN

ing output
The MONITOR or VIDEO indicator will flash, and automatic
switching will not occur back to the playback image.
2) Switching control using Command Stack

3) Switching control using RS-232C
commands
Switching can be controlled by means of RS-232C interface
commands.
Also, the functions of the PASS THROUGH buttons can be
locked by means of the KL (Key Lock) command.
4) Automatic switching
When [AUTO PASS THROUGH] is set to [ON] on the ADV.
SETUP menu, switching is performed automatically to set
the selector to DVD when playback is started, and to external
input when playback is stopped. Note that if auto switching
is set to ON, the external input is selected when playback is
stopped, even if no signal is provided to the VIDEO IN con-
nector.
