04 Initial Settings

Parental Lock

Some discs containing mature content such as violent scenes
may feature a Parental Lock level (check the disc box for these
discs). By setting the player's Parental Lock level to a value
lower than the level of the disc, playback of these discs can
be prevented.
As an example, by setting the player's Parental Lock level to 6,
the playback of level 7 discs will be prevented. To play level 7
discs, the Parental Lock level must be preset to level 7 or higher.
These Parental Lock levels operate according to lock levels
that differ from country to country. By presetting the country
code, this "discrimination by country" is made possible.
1. Press the SETUP button to open the
SETUP menu, then use the cursor
buttons (», «, |, \) to select [Initial
Settings] and press the ENTER button

[Password]

First, register your password.
¶ You must register a password before you can change the
Parental Lock level or enter a Country code. Also, when
playing a disc with Parental-Lock function, a dialog may
be displayed requesting the input of the password. If the
registered password is not input, the disc cannot be played.

¶ It is recommended that you write down your password.
¶ If you have forgotten your password, you must reset all
settings to their defaults (page 78), and then set a pass-
word again.
¶ Some discs can be played while skipping only those scenes
prohibited by Parental Locked. For further information
check the operation guide enclosed with the disc.
