Appendix

13 Appendix

13.1 Information on the bus master configuration

with SERCOS III

To simplify the configuration and minimize administration effort
of the master, the scope of function for the SERCOS III slave has
been reduced to a minimum. As a result, the device only
supports the real-time and service channel for SERCOS III and
no non-real-time channel (TCP/IP channel) for data
communication. The NRT channel is supported by non-SERCOS
III telegrams (e.g. TCP/IP) being sent unmodified to the next
participant.

13.2 Operating behavior

4 bytes of master real-time data (outputs) can be processed per
switch. Ethernet telegrams that are transferred in the non-real-
time channel via a SERCOS III network are directly forwarded
from the switch to the following participant.
The asynchronous service channel is implemented in the bus
coupler and permits read and write access to the provided
parameters in accordance with the uniform specifications in the
SERCOS III I/O profile.
The device supports the remote addressing newly specified by
SERCOS III, which assigns a SERCOS address using the physical
address and participant recognition.
For cycle times of up to 31.25 µs, an additional special feature
of the bus coupler is that it supports the redundancy principle
implemented in SERCOS III to ensure high-availability
automation solutions.
