WARNINGS
When wiring the devices to be programmed or checked, make reference
to the instructions contained in the present manual and in the manuals
concerning the products to which the programmer is to be connected.
1) GENERAL OuTLINE
PROXIMA is a terminal used for programming and checking the devices
belonging to the EElink line. All the devices belonging to this line can be
programmed and their configuration checked by means of the present
device. The EElink protocol allows the programmer to recognise automa-
tically the parameters managed by the device connected: PROXIMA will
therefore also be able to operate on devices from the same line which
may be marketed in the future.
These are its main functions:
• full management of parameters, logics, statistics and self-diagnosis of
the control panels compatible with the EElink protocol.
• management of all functions of the radio receivers belonging to the
INTRIC and CLONIX series, both plugged in and incorporated in the
control panels.

4) CONNECTIONS
"A" / "E" Interfaces
Interface according to RS 232/USB standard for connection to personal
computer or other accessories. The connection to the personal computer
can only be activated if the computer has been appropriately configured
and is running the programs contained in the EEdbase pack.
PROXIMA automatically recognises the completion of the serial interface
connection, therefore to start communicating with the personal computer
you just need to connect the serial cable to the "A"/"E" interface and activate
the relevant program. In order to be able to use the USB connection, you
need to install in the PC the relevant driver contained inside the CDROM
of the EEDBASE software.
"B" Interface
Interface having a 14-pole connector according to the EElink owner protocol.
The device to be programmed is connected depending on the appropriate
accessory chosen from among UNITRC, UNIDA and UNIFLAT.
For connection methods and the choice of a suitable accessory, make re-
ference to the instructions concerning to the device to be programmed.
"C" Interface
Bipolar connector for 485 serial system.
"D" Interface
Connector for CAPRI serial system (see Fig. 5).
Power supply
The device is activated by means of the switch positioned on the right-hand
side of the programmer.
INSTALLATION MANUAL
300 mA power supply unit socket
www.BFTGateOpeners.com | (800) 878-7829
The device can be supplied with power by connecting it to the 12V power
supply unit by means of the socket positioned in the vicinity of the B
interface.
The devices which do not require the use of the UNIDA adapter for the
EELINK connection are able to supply the PROXIMA programmer with
power; in this case it will be possible to use PROXIMA even without a
battery or external power supply unit. On the other hand, if the device
requires the use of the UNIDA adapter, it can be supplied by means of
PROXIMA; this way it is possible to program the devices even before they
are installed on site. This allows remarkable time saving and makes work
easier. Refer to the manuals for each product for details on the EELINK
connection method.
Internal Rechargeable Battery
The programmer is provided with an internal rechargeable bat-
tery which allows it to be used even without an external power
supply.
Before being able to use it after the purchase, a full recharge is required (15
h approx.), which is simply obtained by leaving the programmer connected
to the 12V power supply unit.
Note: the battery recharging process is active independently of the pro-
grammer activation status; greater efficiency is however obtained by leaving
the programmer switched off.
To obtain maximum working life for the internal rechargeable battery, you
are advised to follow a few generic rules:
- after the battery discharge warning has been displayed, recharge the
battery as soon as possible;
- do not leave the programmer in charging mode for over 24 hours;
- in the case where the programmer is left unused, you are advised to
recharge the battery periodically, as necessary;
- activation of the display backlighting remarkably reduces battery life;
- when possible, you are advised to use the external 12V power supply
unit to give power to the control units or receivers through the EELINK
connector.
In the case where critical and long operations have to be carried out (for
ex. Importing high-capacity receiver lists or transferring data to/from a PC),
you are advised to use the 12V power supply unit in order to avoid possible
loss of data due to battery discharging.
Warning: in case of replacement, exclusively use 6LR 61 type re-
chargeable batteries.
Battery removal
When removing the batteries, keep to the current regulations and in
particular:
1) Remove the batteries before disposing of the products.
2) Batteries must be scrapped in a safe way.
3) The appliance must be disconnected from the power supply during
battery removal.
5) uSE OF ThE KEYBOARD
The keyboard has 16 keys: 10 are alphanumeric and 6 are functional.
·
Each time they are pressed, the alphanumeric keys enter in cyclical
sequence:
the numerical key ⇒ the first alphabetical character ⇒ the se-
cond ⇒ the third ⇒ the numerical key ⇒ the first alphabetical
character etc.
For ex. 1 ⇒ A ⇒ B ⇒ C ⇒ 1 ⇒ A ⇒ B ...
If the time between pressing one key and the next exceeds 2 seconds,
the character is accepted and the cursor automatically moves to the
subsequent position. During entry of a number in hexadecimal format
(for ex. the receiver code), the sequence starts from the number, and
only the alphabetical characters from A to F are enabled.
·
Functional key "5" allows you to scroll the cursor up to choose the
menus shown on the display.
·
Functional key "6" allows you to scroll the cursor down to choose the
menus shown on the display.
·
Functional key "ESCAPE" cancels a choice and returns to the previous
menu.
·
Functional key "ENTER" allows you to move to the menu highlighted
or, when entering a parameter, allows you to confirm the value ente-
red.
·
Functional key "4" allows you to move the cursor to the right when
entering texts and parameters. It is useful for inserting blank spaces
when entering texts. When browsing through the menus, it can be used
as an alternative to ENTER.
·
Functional key "3" allows you to move the cursor to the left when ente-
ring texts and parameters. When entering texts, scrolling to the left can
be used to cancel the text already entered. When browsing through the
menus, it can be used as an alternative to ESC.
6) MENu ORGANISATION
The menus which follow one another on the PROXIMA display are organised
as a tree, starting from the welcome screen pages:
