Advance variation check

The check of the advance angle with engine charge can be carried out only after
checking the idle advance.
After the advance angle check the timing light is in the rest mode; the three
displays of the dash board are on.
Take the engine at the RPM indicated by the manufacturer trying to maintain it as
stable as possible by reading the measurement on the timing light display.
Disconnect the vacuum device pipe (if not differently indicated by the
manufacturer) in case the car to be tested is equipped with it.
Aim the timing light to the fixed reference and hold the FLASH key (11) down, the
flash starts flashing to show that the advance degrees display has been enabled.
Rotate the Deviator (10) until the fixed TDC reference mark corresponds to the
movable mark.
Rotate it to the left or to the right to move the TDC movable reference mark
(see picture c).
Press continuously the DEVIATOR to carry out a rapid increase or decrease;
press and release immediately for a 0,1° decrease or increase.
Read the advance angle on the instrument display and compare it to the
manufacturer's data.
Release the FLASH (11) key to stop the advance reading.
In case of check of the advance angles related to other engine revolution values
repeat the above described operations starting from the first point.
ATTENTION:
In case the instrument performs a wrong reading of the engine revolutions,
turn the induction clamp from standard sensitivity to reduced sensitivity
(see chapter 3.2).
