Use and maintenance ATOMIZER ON VISION MULTIFUNCTION MACHINE
and then every 3 years.
- Equipment used by contractors must be checked every
two years.
The PAN lists the equipment subject to the check requirement;
this is the general data of sprayers used for the treatment of
arboreal and herbaceous crops, greenhouses and for extra
agricultural use.

2.6.2 FUNCTIONAL CHECK

On each regional territory there are Test Centers that have
authorized personnel, suitable equipment, the possibility of
carrying out mechanical works and are required to comply with
official procedures. Most have mobile equipment and are the-
refore able to perform the service even in suitable areas made
available by individual or associated companies, upon request.
The Test Center verifies the correct operation and integrity
of the various components of the equipment, through visual
inspection, operation tests and measurements with suitable
devices. In summary, the checks carried out concern: transmis-
sion elements; pump; tank; mixer; measurement, control and
adjustment systems; pressure gauge; pipelines and pipes;
filters; distribution bar; nozzles; correct distribution; fan and
guards.
2.6.3 ADJUSTMENT OF SPRAYING MACHINES
The purpose of adjusting or calibrating the sprayers is to adapt
the equipment to the specific farm cultivation situations and to
define the correct volume of the mixture to be distributed, taking
into account the indications given on the labels of phytosanitary
products.
This is a work that, preferably, must be carried out simul-
taneously with the functional check or at its end (never on
sprayers that are not working correctly) and that should be
repeated whenever the operating conditions of the sprayer or
the vegetative conditions of the target change.
With regards to adjustment, the National Action Plan distin-
guishes two levels, one of which is mandatory for professional
users and one voluntary.
Periodic adjustment of the spraying machine to the farming
culture MUST be carried out by the User, after adequate training,
using tools supplied to the sprayer machine, if any.
Mandatory adjustment involves annual recording by the User
on a specific sheet (see page 68) to be attached to the register
of treatments or on the register itself at least of the date of
execution of the adjustment and the spraying volumes used
for the main types of crops.
48
Periodic and maintenance checks must cover at least the
following aspects:
- The check of any injury or loss of machine components.
- The operation of the hydraulic circuit and the pressure gauge.
- The operation of the nozzles and anti-drip devices.
- The cleaning of filters and nozzles.
- The check of the integrity of the machine guards and the fan
protection grid.
The voluntary instrumental adjustment of the sprayer can be
carried out at the authorized Test Centers and can be carried
out using suitable equipment (test benches) to complete the
functional checks. As in the case of the functional check, the
execution of the adjustment by the Test Center must follow
protocols and standards defined by national and regional stan-
dards. At the end of the adjustments, the Test Center issues a
certificate to the owner of the sprayer machine.
