7.4 Functional test

The plant / machine must be tested for proper function after all of the electrical connections have been
established and the supply voltage has been turned on.
Actuate the sensors in sequence.
Check the switching units for proper reaction.
The safety system must be professionally inspected at appropriate intervals.
The inspection must be documented in such a way as to be comprehensible at all times.
The requirements of the plant/machine manufacturer are to be taken into account and followed.

8. Error diagnosis

Onl the green LED may illuminate if the supply voltage has been correctly connected. If the yellow or red LED
illuminates, there is an error in the system which can be pinpointed with the aid of the LED.

Green Power
LED does not
illuminate
Yellow Actuate

nated
Yellow Actuate

Red Fault LEDs

If the error is not in the wiring, the function of the electronics can be tested by connecting an 8.2 kΩ resistor
*
to the sensor input on the SK 41 switching unit (terminals X1 X2). If the electronics work perfectly after
performing the test, the sensor must be checked using an ohmmeter. To do this, the connection of the
sensor to the switching unit must be disconnected and connected to an ohmmeter. The resistance must
be 8.2 kΩ ±500 Ω when the sensor is inactive and must not exceed 500 Ω when the sensor is active.

Error
The supply voltage is missing, too
low or has been connected incor-
rectl
Sensor actuated, incorrectly
connected or defective
Operating mode "manual reset" only:
Sensor no longer actuated or inter-
rupted, switching unit waits for reset
pulse at Z1, Z2
Sensor(s) not connected, connected
incorrectly or faulty
Error correction
Check connections and supply voltage:
- 230 V AC (or 115 V) at terminals A1 A2 or
- 24 V AC/DC at terminal B1 B2
Tolerance range: ±10 %
- Check the connections of the corresponding
sensors (squeezed or brittle supply lines, etc.)
- Check sensors*
Not an error, normal behaviour following an
error in "manual reset" mode (see 5.4)
- Check the connections of the corresponding
sensors (squeezed or brittle supply lines, etc.)
- Check sensors*
