Escape door function/emergency exit and panic door locks
In general: A door with escape door function can always be opened with the door handle from the inside,
even if it is locked.
Escape doors are equipped with
· Emergency exit locks in accordance with DIN EN 179
· Panic door locks in accordance with DIN EN 1125
Panic doors are subject to somewhat more stringent requirements than emergency exit doors. Panic door
locks in accordance with DIN EN 1125 are equipped with a panic push bar or panic touch bar (panic bar)
across the width of the door leaf. Emergency exit devices in accordance with DIN EN 179 are equipped
with a door handle.

Product versions

The multi-point lock 319N is basically available in two versions: with B-function ("B-function (changeover
function)", page 35) or with E-function ("E-function (reversing function)", page 35).

B-function (changeover function)

In locks with B-function, the outer door handle is permanently engaged or disengaged with the locking
cylinder. With special versions without escape door function, this also pertains to the inner door handle.
With the multi-point lock 319N with escape door function, the inner door handle (DIN EN 179) or the panic
bar (DIN EN 1125) always remains engaged (remains active), so only the outer door handle is permanently
engaged or disengaged.
With the multi-point lock 319N without escaped door function (special version), both door handles (inside
and outside) remain permanently engaged or disengaged at the same time.
When the doors are closed, the bolts automatically extend. The door is locked again
("Self-locking", page 44).
Multi-point lock 319N with escape door function offers
· Approval for emergency exits according to DIN EN 179 or panic doors according to DIN EN 1125,
· split follower / split spindle
· mechanically engaged and disengaged outer door handles by means of locking cylinder activation.
Multi-point lock 319N without escape door function (special version) offers
· continuous follower / continuous spindle.
· mechanically engaged and disengaged inner and outer door handles by means of locking cylinder
activation.
· Inner and outer door handles are always engaged and disengaged simultaneously due to the continuous
spindle and the non-split follower.

E-function (reversing function)

With the E-function (reversing function), the door is equipped with a front door fitting. For this function,
the locking cylinder is designed for manual unlocking from outside.
Actuating the locking cylinder mechanically retracts the deadbolt and releases the latch bolt. The door
can now be used.
The bolts automatically extend when the doors are closed. The door is then locked again.
