4.1.3 Connection of the hand cable
INFORMATION
Make sure that the cable is not stretched tight, since the flexion move-
ment of the wrist will require a certain amount of cable length. For test-
ing, maximal extension and flexion movements must be performed with
the System Electric Hand.
SensorHand Speed and MyoHand VariPlus Speed
1. Shorten the cable to approx. 3 cm after it has exited the bore hole of the
tube chassis of the 8E41=8 SensorHand Speed (fig. 26). Separate the
ends of the individual strands of the cable, remove 2 mm of the insula-
tion and tin (fig. 27).
2. Provide the strands with shrink tubing and solder them to the new, sup-
plied plug (fig. 28). Start with the red strand on both ends.
3. Slide the shrink tubing over the solder joints and shrink.
4. Mount the control electronics and attach the plug. Perform a function
check. If necessary, reposition the 10V40 MyoWrist 2Act in relation to
the System Electric Hand.
5. Make sure to properly place the cable (fig. 29 + 30). If necessary, re-
position the 10V40 MyoWrist 2Act once again in relation to the 8E41
Ottobock System Electric Hand (fig. 32).
DMC plus and Digital Twin System Hands
1. Shorten the cable to approx. 4 cm after it has exited the bore hole of
the tube chassis of the 8E41 Ottobock System Electric Hand (fig. 26).
Separate the ends of the individual strands of the cable, remove 2 mm
of the insulation and tin (fig. 27).
2. Use the 711M12 Soldering Jig to solder on the plug. The marking in
Fig. 31 shows the position of the red strand of the hand cable.
3. Reassemble the control electronics with the screws and attach the plug
(fig. 13-11). Reassemble the 9E78 Bow Spring. Perform a function check.
If necessary, reposition the 10V40 MyoWrist 2Act once again in relation
to the 8E41 Ottobock System Electric Hand (fig. 32).
