Units with PTC heat register,
sensitive heat exchanger and
additional pre-heating
310/410 320/470
If pre-heating (brine earth heat exchanger,
electric heat register) is also fitted upstream
and controlled via the unit controller, the
pre-heating ensures that the unit remains free
of frost.
The pre-heating switches on if the tempera-
ture falls below the minimum air inlet tem-
perature (factory setting) + T-air inlet offset
heating.
Should the air inlet temperature fall to the
minimum air inlet temperature despite this,
the PTC heat register is also activated.

enthalpy heat exchanger

Units with PTC heat register and enthalpy
heat exchanger have a special frost protection
strategy.
The combi sensor fitted in the exhaust air duct
of the ventilation unit determines the exhaust
air humidity. The freezing temperature is
calculated on the basis of the exhaust air
humidity and the current volumetric flow.
The PTC heat register controls the unit inlet
temperature using this calculated value + an
offset so that the enthalpy heat exchanger
cannot freeze.
The enthalpy heat exchanger reaches a freez-
ing temperature when the unit inlet tempera-
ture is between -5 °C to -12 °C, depending on
humidity and volumetric flow.

Units with PTC heat register
170
The controlled PTC heat register keeps
the unit free of frost and protects the heat
exchanger from icing over. The ventilation
unit controls the temperature at the unit inlet
to the minimum air inlet temperature (factory
setting).
If the outgoing air temperature falls below the
Outgoing air min. value set in the factory des-
pite a PTC heat register being present, the
ventilation unit switches off. A frost protection
fault appears on the control unit.
