PAR. 13
WARNING: IF THE AUTOCLAVE HAS BEEN IDLE FOR SOME TIME WITH THE DOOR CLOSED, THE
DOOR SEAL MAY HAVE DEFORMED AND THUS CAUSE PROBLEMS OF LOSS OF STEMA ON ITS
FIRST USE. IT IS THEREFORE ADVISABLE TO CHECK FOR PROPER DOOR CLOSING. IF IT IS
SLACK, ADJUST IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS IN PARAGRAPH 15.
1.
Carry out the installation operations as described in PAR.7, so that the autoclave is ready for use.
Follow the instructions given here below.
2.
Turn on the autoclave with the ON/OFF main switch. The autoclave pre-heats at about 50° C; if it is not
used, it remains in its stand-by cycle for 60 minutes. All leds go off and only the ON/OFF main switch
light and the Display are on.
3.
Open the door with the handle.
4.
Load the instruments placing them on the trays provided. It is essential not to have instruments or bags
overlapping or overload the trays. See § 10 (sterilisation table) for correct loading details.
5.
For good drying it is important for the wrapped instruments to be placed in the trays with the plastic side
down and paper side up. This is to release air bubbles during sterilisation as well as condensation
formed during drying.
6.
Each time a sterilisation cycle is carried out insert an integrator in the sterilisation chamber for
sterilisation confirmation. It is advisable to place the integrator in the centre of the sterilisation
chamber. VAPOR LINE EXTENDER integrators are recommended.
7.
Close the door wtih the handle.
8.
Select the cycle using the SELECT button.
9.
The Display shows details of the selected cycle (see STERILISATION TABLE).
10 Press the START/STOP button to start the sterilisastion process. After a few seconds the DOOR
LOCKED message appears. This stays on for 3 seconds.. If you try to open the door with the DOOR
button during the running cycle the DOOR LOCKED messages re-appears for 3 seconds. The heating
stage then starts. This phase varies according to the sterilisation load and the temperature inside the
chamber. Each working stage of the autoclave is shown on the Display, and for each of these is shown:
STAGE – TEMPERATURE – PRESSURE – TIME. During the pre-heating phase, the vacuum pump
starts working and creates a vacuum into the chamber. Once the pre-set vacuum are reached, some
water is input into the sterilisation chamber. This stage is repeated three times only in the case of
wrapped cycles. With unwrapped cycles the vacuum is created once only.
11 During the pre-heating phase when the autoclave is heating up to reach the right pressure, the Display
flashes the sterilisation times minutes (as well as the drying time). When the set sterilisation parameters
are reached the time stops flashing and decreases steadily up to the end of the cycle.
12 At the end of the sterilisation phase, Display gives the message DRYING and the remaining time is
displayed. Later the vacuum pump starts working to suck out remaining steam. During the final minutes
of the drying phase an electrovalve allows the entry of air into the chamber from outside. The external
air sucked by the pump is filtered through the bacterial filter placed on the front side of the autoclave. In
this way the drying process in the chamber is increased.
13 If the operator wants to stop a cycle that has already started, he must do as follows: press the
START/STOP button, wait for the pressure indicated on the Display to get to 0 bar. The Display gives
the message AS00 (interrupted cycle); press the SELECT, DOOR and TECHNICAL buttons at the
same time for 3 seconds to reset the alarm. Press the DOOR button, to release the door lock and open
the door pulling on the door handle. Before re-starting the cycle, the instruments have to be properly
dried. The drying can also be carried out simply by leaving the door open until they are completely dry.
This operation is necessary because any remaining steam in the chamber can cause a failure to
achieve the required vacuum, thus creating an alarm situation indicated on the display as message
A100 (see PAR.17).
14 If at the end of the sterilisation cycle there is an alarm given on the Display, for instance: (A600, A700,
etc.... see PAR. 17), this means that the sterilisation cycle has not taken place correctly so it is
necessary to repeat the cycle.
15 At the end of the cycle the Display gives the message END OF CYCLE followed by an acoustic signal. It
is now possible to open the door by press the DOOR button, while following the instructions below.
16 Before opening the door, make sure that there is no pressure inside the sterilisation chamber; the
Display must indicate 0 bar. IF THE PRESSURE EXCEEDS THIS IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE TO
OPEN THE DOOR.
