Each further charging process should also be
carried out at an interval in order to preserve the
performance capacity and service life of the battery.

Maintenance of the battery

Check the battery at regular intervals for damage or
deformation. In such a case the battery must be
taken out of operation immediately and be disposed
of in an appropriate manner by a certified disposal
company.

Cleaning the battery and contacts

Clean the battery and battery contacts at regular
intervals before starting the charging process. For
this purpose, use a sturdy cloth dampened with
water or soapy water. Make sure that the contacts
are dried again afterwards. Then grease the
contacts with terminal grease to protect them from
corrosion. For suitable pole grease please refer to
the "Operating material" table below.
Warning
While handling the batteries, always wear
required protective clothing. Please consult
your safety officer regarding this matter.
Persons coming into contact with battery acid
can suffer severe acid burns and must go to
the emergency at once.
In case of direct contact with the skin or eyes,
rinse with plenty of clean water and consult a
doctor immediately!

Checking the battery acid

With low-maintenance batteries a regular check for
the level of acid is not required.
IMOW-E-BF series
Any kind of reproduction, even in parts, is not permitted.

Checking the contacts

Before starting the work, always make sure that all
contacts are clean and that the battery or contacts
are free from any kind of contamination. Clean the
contacts, if required, and grease with pole grease
afterwards.

Proper connection of the lines

Do not mix up anode (+) and cathode (-). This could
lead to damage to the components of the
consumer. The worst-case scenario of mixing up
the connections would be formation of sparks and
explosion.

Measures during the summer

No particular measures are necessary.

Measures during winter

Check at regular intervals that the battery is
charged properly.
If possible, park the stacker truck in heated areas.
In order to prevent a deep discharge when it is cold,
remove the battery connectors.
Precautionary measures during the charging
process
Charge the batteries only in areas that are
well ventilated.

Non smoking
Always check the cable and plug before
starting the charging process. If the cable
and/or the plug are damaged, do not proceed
with the charging process.
Open the cover during the charging
process to let explosive gases escape.
If detecting a defect on the cable and/or
plug during the charging process, always press
the stop button on the charger first and then
pull the plug.

Charging the batteries

During the charging process of the battery there are
several issues to keep in mind:

Proper charging of the battery

If the battery is recharged only if it is completely
