Intended use

The electric multi-point lock 809 is suitable for installation in metal tubular frame doors.
The electric security lock 809 is intended for door locking in security areas. The device is suitable for
installation according to the mounting instructions and for use corresponding to the description of
function. It is not intended for any other type of use.
The electric security lock 809 is only permitted for use single leaf door fire doors opening outward or
inward.
A combination of the electric security lock 809 with swing door drives is not possible and therefore applies
as unintended.
It is approved for fire doors as a lock for automatically locking single-leaf doors.
All applicable regulations for the complete door system must be observed.
Only suitable striking plates may be used. ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik GmbH recommends the use of the
striking plates offered in this manual ("Striking plates", page 58).
The device is suitable for installation according to the installation instructions and use according to the
functional description.
The version which is suitable for emergency exits according to DIN EN 179 is recognisable by the CE mark
on the face plate and the CE mark on the lock case. It is suitable for emergency situations in which panic
situations are not probable. A safe and effective passage through a door is enabled with only a single
actuation for the release of the escape door function, even if prior knowledge can be necessary for the
actuation of the lock.
The version which is suitable for panic door locks according to DIN EN 1125 is recognisable by the CE mark
on the face plate and the CE mark on the lock case. It is suitable for emergencies in which it is very likely
that a panic situation will occur and a safe and effective escape through a door with only minor effort is
possible without the necessity of prior knowledge for actuation of the panic door lock, even if the door is
under pressure, for instance when people push against it in the escape direction.
The version without escape door function is equipped with a continuous handle follower. Both the outer
door handle and the inner door handle are simultaneously engaged or disengaged by the locking cylinder.
They may only be used if no emergency exits are involved. The building code regulations in this regard
must be observed.
The electric multi-point lock 809 is suitable for installation in doors with a high usage frequency, which
entails little occasion for care and thus there is a possibility of accidents or misuse (such as office doors).
It is not intended for any other type of use.
