Fail-unlocked and fail-locked in the event of an emergency

The electric security lock 809 is available in "fail-unlocked" and "fail-locked" product versions.
Fail-locked
In the fail-locked version the outer handle is deactivated when no electrical current flows. Therefore in
normal operating mode no current flows permanently.
Fail-unlocked

door from the outside.

Application examples

The following examples clarify the possibilities of the electric security lock 809 in combination with the
superordinate control systems.

Alarm if the door remains open

The bolt contact of the electric security lock 809 reports "door closed and locked" to the superordinate
Bolt contact
system. If a door remains open for a longer time, an alarm is triggered after the lapse a time period defined
in the control system.
To help prevent false alarms, an additional door contact can be connected in a series so that the door
contact indicates the closed door and the lock in addition to the locking. If one of the contacts is not
closed again, an alarm is triggered after the lapse a time period defined in the control system.
The combination of an additional door contact with a bolt contact of the electric lock also prevents
manipulation of the door.

No alarm if the door is opened from inside

Inner handle contact
Door monitoring which already triggers an alarm if the door is opened without prior activation by an EAC
system cannot differentiate whether the door was opened from inside or outside. In this case the alarm
can be suppressed by the inner handle contact connected in a series.

Estimating the number of persons

Inner door handle and
With the inner door handle and outer door handle contacts, a differentiation can be made as to the
direction in which a person passes through the door. In this manner a superordinate system can count the
outer handle contact
movements and estimate the number of persons inside. An exact determination of the number is not
possible in this manner, because it is possible that multiple persons pass through an open door at the
same time.
