Safety instructions

Warning!
Diminished fire protection function may result in personal injury and property damage: Fire doors
prevent fire from spreading and are tested as a complete unit with accessories:
· regulations established by inspection authorities must be complied with,
· Check whether the door certification matches the lock.
· The door manufacturer needs to be consulted if the lock is to be replaced and a different model used or
a lock is to be retrofit. Specifications of the door manufacturer must also be observed.
· The installed lock must be the appropriate size.
Life-threatening danger from project locks in escape route doors. The lock is not suitable for emergen-
cy exit door locks with panic lock function or for doors in escape routes.
Danger resulting from damage: A damaged device is a safety risk and may not be commissioned. Check
the packaging and the device for damage. Damaged cables and connector assemblies must not be used
either.
Impor tant!
Property damage from work on the door leaf: The lock must be removed for any work on the door leaf,
such as drilling or cutting.
Impaired function due to incorrect rebate gap: The rebate gap must be appropriately adjusted
("Explanation of terms", page 40 and "Technical data", page 57).
Property damage due to unsuitable striking plate: Select the striking plate so that it always acts as the
stop face and sliding surface for the latch.
Property damage due to improper handling during transport: The door leaf may not be lifted or carried
by the door handles.
Property damage from opening the lock: Opening the lock will damage it and void the warranty
("Warranty", page 61).
Property damage from painting. Do not paint the lock or striking plate, or coat with other substances.
Protect from water and moisture: The electric security lock 809 must be protected from the penetration
of water. Water impairs the function of the electric security lock 809.
Observe the EMC Directive: For electromagnetic compatibility reasons, individual wires may not be con-
nected in parallel in order to achieve larger conductor cross-sections. Always use individual wires with the
appropriate surface cross section.
