Warning!
Diminished fire protection function may result in life-threatening danger, risk of injury and property
damage: Fire doors prevent fire from spreading and are tested as a complete unit with accessories:
· regulations established by inspection authorities must be complied with,
· Check whether the door certification matches the lock.
· The door manufacturer must be consulted if the lock is to be replaced with a different model or if a lock
is to be retrofitted. Specifications of the door manufacturer must also be observed.
· The installed lock must be the appropriate size.
Life-threatening danger and risk of injury due to damage: A damaged device is a safety risk and may not
be put into operation. Check the packaging and the device for damage. Also, damaged cables and connec-
tor assemblies must not be used.

Property damage caused by work on the door leaf: The lock must be removed for all work on the door
leaf, such as drilling or cutting.
Impaired function due to incorrect rebate gap: The rebate gap ("Explanation of terms", page 44) must
be appropriately adjusted ("Technical data", page 59).
Using an unsuitable striking plate can cause material damage: The striking plate must be selected and
mounted in a manner so that it always acts as the stop face and sliding surface for the latch.
Property damage due to improper handling during transport: The door leaf may not be lifted or carried
by the door handles.
Property damage caused by opening the lock: Open the lock will damage it and void the warranty
("Warranty", page 64).
Property damage from painting. Do not paint the lock or striking plate, or coat with other substances.
Protect against water and moisture: The motorised security lock 509N must be protected against pen-
etrating water. Water impairs the function of the motorised security lock 509N.
Observe the EMC Directive: For reasons of electromagnetic compatibility, individual cables may not be
connected in parallel in order to maintain a larger conductor cross-section. Always use individual cables
with a suitable cross-section surface.
