ENGINE IGNITION AND TURNING OFF

Starting the engine
1- Insert the key (E) and turn it
clockwise to position 1.
All the warning lights come on, ex-
cept for coolant temperature warn-
ing light (C).
The warning light (D) comes on to
signal the pre-heating phase of the
glowplugs.
2 - When the warning light (D) goes
off, turn the ignition key (E) clock-
wise (pos. 2) to start the engine and
then release it.
All the warning lights go off.
Important
If the engine does not start imme-
diately, wait for 10-15 seconds before re-
starting.
3 - Run the engine at a minimum speed dur-
ing the heating phase.

When the engine is running, indicator

lights (red) might light up and/or a buzzer
sound, to indicate the presence of a
fault. In these conditions, turn the engine
off immediately, then identify and elimi-
nate the cause of the fault (See "Trouble-
shooting").

Important
In the case of turbocharged engines, be-
fore switching the engine off it should be
run at minimum idle speed for a few min-
utes in order to avoid damaging the tur-
bocharger.
Turn the ignition key (E) anticlockwise (pos.
0) to turn off the engine.
All the warning lights go off.
Remove the ignition key and store it in a
safe place known only to those in charge.
