MAINTENANCE IN CASE OF ENGINE INACTIVITY

After a period of inactivity, it is necessary to
carry out a few maintenance interventions
before starting the engine again to ensure
its maximum efficiency conditions.
– Check the charge of the battery and the
liquid level.
– Make sure the electric contacts are intact
and properly working.
– Carry out the operation diagnosis of the
engine.
– Check the oil level, and, if necessary, top
up or replace it according to the established
intervals (See "Routine maintenance table
(after running-in)").
– Replace the oil filter according to the es-
tablished intervals (See "Routine mainte-
nance table (after running-in)").
– Check the coolant level, and if neces-
sary, top up or replace it according to the es-
tablished
intervals
maintenance table (after running-in)").
– Replace the fuel filter according to the es-
GB
tablished intervals (See "Routine mainte-
nance table (after running-in)").

WASHING THE ENGINE

To avoid irreversible damage to the electric
and electronic components of the engine,
do not point jets of high pressure water or
jets of steam at these components. Pay par-
ticular attention to the joins of the cables, the
electric connectors, the alternator and the
starter motor, protecting them adequately if
necessary.
Before washing the engine, adequately pro-
tect the fuel supply pump so as not to dam-
age it with water infiltrations.

– Replace the air filter according to the es-
tablished intervals (See "Routine mainte-
nance table (after running-in)").
– Tension again the transmission belt (See
"How to adjust the tension of the driving
belt").
– Check the tightening of the hydraulic un-
ions (See "Control screw tightening and un-
ion sealing").
– Check the rubber gaskets and relevant
fixing clips to ensure they are undamaged.
– Use a cloth soaked in a degreasing prod-
uct to remove the external protective treat-
ment.
– Start the engine and run it at minimum
speed for a few minutes (See "Engine igni-
tion and turning off").
– If no anomalies are detected, bring the
engine
to
its
operating
(70÷80°C).
– Turn off the engine and check again the
engine oil and coolant level.
When you have finished washing the en-
gine, take out all the electric connectors,
blow compressed air to eliminate any water,
and apply a specific product to prevent oxi-
dation and corrosion.
When you have finished washing, start the
engine and leave it running for a few min-
utes so that it gets completely dry.
