Unlocking pin
Single-leaf escape doors
In single-leaf doors, the lock variant is used without an unlocking pin. When using the lock variant with an
unlocking pin in a single-leaf door, the unlocking pin has no function.

Electronic access control

Electrically engaging the outer door handle
The electric security lock 809N enables access control with a divided follower in combination with a divided
handle pin. The outer door handle can be electrically engaged or disengaged (depending on the fail-locked
or fail-unlocked setting) so that the initially non-functioning outer door handle can be used to open the
door. The electrical contact can take place from the inside or outside by such means as a button, magnetic
card reader, fingerprint reader, or door code system, to name a few examples.
Office function
The office function enables permanent engaging of the outer door handle control by means of a permanent
contact. In this way, the building can be made permanently accessible from outside for a predefined time
period by means of an electronic access control system or timer.
Electrically engaging both door handles
Warning!
There is no escape door function if both door handles are non-functioning: The product version with
disengaging door handles on both sides does not offer escape door functionality and may not be installed
in escape route doors.
The special version without escape door function offers the possibility of controlling both directions of
passage by electrically engaging or disengaging both door sides. In this case, the inner and outer door
handle are connected to each other by means of a continuous handle pin.
Double-leaf escape doors
The electric security lock 809N with unlocking pin in the bolt (Fig. 5) is
installed in the active leaf in a set of double-leaf doors.
There is a passive leaf lock with unlocking mechanism („Accessories",
page 69) in the inactive leaf which can push in the unlocking pin and then
the bolt.
In this manner, the locked escape door can be unlocked and opened with
the door handle or panic bar of either door.
