18.7. Configuring the inverter to work only with the PV array,
without batteries
These inverters can work only from the photovoltaic input, without using the battery input.
INFO
To set up the inverter in this operation mode, see the document "Use and Settings of the ISS 1Play working
only with PV" available at www.ingeconsuntraining.info.

18.8. Configuring the operation mode and its settings

These inverters can be used both in stand-alone installations and installations connected to grid.
INFO
For more information about this type of installation, see the "Technical guide for installations with
INGECON SUN STORAGE 1Play" available on the Ingeteam website.
The operating mode of the unit is different depending on the type of installation where the inverter is to be used.
To configure it, open MAIN MENU > CONFIGURATION > OPERATION MODE > MODE.

The inverter generates an alternative stand-alone grid and acts as a grid manager,
guaranteeing the balance between photovoltaic generation, consumption and the batteries.
It allows the connection of an auxiliary generator for charging the batteries in the event of a
power shortage.
This operating mode was designed for systems connected to the distribution grid, where grid
outages are long and frequent. During a grid outage the energy stored in the batteries is used
to supply the loads. To do so, the batteries remain charged while the grid is available and the
photovoltaic energy is used to supply the consumers, reducing energy consumption from the
grid. Grid supply of photovoltaic surplus is user configurable.
This operation mode is intended for systems connected to the distribution grid, which allows
to create self consumption installations in combination with the INGECON SUN EMS Board.
The energy flow management within the installation is controlled by the EMS Board energy
manager. This operation mode is compatible with self consumption installations according to
RD900/2015. In this case, the system will limit photovoltaic energy production to guarantee
no energy is supplied to the distribution grid.
The inverter manages the energy flows within the installation to minimize consumption from
the distribution grid and increase self-supply. The back-up function can be activated in this
operation mode. With this functionality, in the event of a power outage the inverter provides
the energy required for consumers from the batteries and PV array, operating in a similar
manner to an UPS.
