4.3 Design and functionality
The collecting tank made of polyethylene serves for pressureless collection of waste wa-
ter. The collecting tank is anchored by 2 fastening screws against buoyancy.
In the collecting tank, there are the hydraulic parts of the pumps, the pitot tube of the level
switch and the check valve. The control line is fastened to a hose nozzle at the collecting
tank and thus connects the pitot tube with the pressure switch in the pump control.
The DC motor or AC motor of the pump sits outside on the collecting tank. The 3.5 m long
connecting cable is already connected to the pump control.
A check valve is available in the tank on the pressure side of the pump. In delivery con-
dition, the pressure outlet is equipped with an adapter flange on pressure pipes with a
nominal width of DN 100.
On the part of the building site, the spigot of the pressure line is inserted into the flex-
ible connection piece of the adapter flange and elastically connected using the supplied
fastening material.
i
The pressure outlet can also be provided with an adapter flange on pressure pipes with
a nominal width of DN 90. This adapter flange with the flexible connection piece can
be ordered under the article number 11933. The pertinent regulations require a shut-off
valve between the collecting tank and the adapter flange. The suitable shut-off valve
with an overall length of 190 mm has the article number: 10649. This shut-off valve can
be used both for DN 90 and DN 100.
An inspection cover allows maintenance, control and cleaning of the internal parts or of
the collecting tank.
2 muffles Rp 1 ½" (both closed) exist at low points of the collecting tank and enable the
connection of an optional draining line.
i
If a manual membrane pump shall be connected to the draining line, it has to be ordered
under the article number: 10430.
Several nozzles (DN 50 and DN 100) are available on the collecting tank for the connec-
tion of the inlet line(s). All nozzles for the inlet lines are closed and must be opened by
sawing off the end piece prior to connecting the pipeline. Through the opened nozzles, the
waste water flows into the collecting tank due to natural gradient.
In case of water inflow in the collecting tank, the water rises and keeps compressing the
air being in the pitot tube so long until the pressure operates the pitot tube switch in the
control. As a result, the pump is switched on and conveys the water from the tank via the
pressure line into the channel. During the process, the level "Pipe bottom flood level" must
be at least overcome.
