c) Adjusting the Steering Geometry
Servo defects are caused by stiff linkage or mechanical parts (e.g. by contamination or rust) as well as by asymme-
trical and therefore non-linear geometric steering settings. Therefore, you need to check the following items in your
model during driving and perform any required corrections.
These measures warrant stronger control operation that is faster under load and in particular even to the left and right.
When making settings, always observe that the servo does not run to block.
The servo lever must be aligned at precisely 90° of the servo
housing when the transmitter is set to the neutral position (trim-
ming also to 0).
If necessary, disassemble the servo lever and attach it again off-
set. Light deviations can be set by trimming the transmitter.
The servo rod (4) then must be set so that the two steering levers
are in parallel to the servo lever (lines in positions 1 and 2).
Then the steering linkages (4) must be set so that the desired toe
in or toe out is achieved.
Also observe the notes in chapter 9. b).
This setting of the servo lever and the complete steering mechanics ensures that the servo is evenly loaded
when steering to the left and right and that it is in the neutral position when driving straight ahead.
