3. Safety when travelling
If the speed is difficult to control, let go of the joystick, and the chair will stop.
• When you release the joystick, it returns on its own to the neutral position, the chair
stops and the motor is blocked.
• We recommend that you switch the chair off, if you are stopping for a long time. This
way you will save power.
Switching off the chair after stopping does not affect the magnetic brakes.
4. Remote Switch Jacks (optional)
Two 1/8" switch jacks are optional to provide remote switch control of the on/off power
function and the mode select function. Any of the single switches offered by Sunrise
Medical can be used to connect to either or both of these jacks (except the single-zero
touch switch).
1. Never use the ON/OFF switch to stop your chair except in an emergency. This will
result in an abrupt stop, and may cause you to fall.
2. To slow or stop your chair, return the joystick to neutral.
F. FREE WHEEL MECHANISM
Disconnect the free wheel mechanism when you need to manually push the chair. (For
example, in an emergency, or if batteries fail).
1. Do not disengage the free wheel mechanism unless power to the chair is off.
2. With the brakes released, the chair will not operate and the battery charge indi-
cator will flash 9 bars rapidly (if power to the chair is on).
3. Be aware that the chair will not have brakes in the free-wheel position.
4. Make sure that the person pushing the chair has full control when the free wheel
mechanism is used.
1. To disengage free wheel mechanism:
Lift both levers (A) outwards, to the free-wheel position.
2. To engage free wheel mechanism:
Push both levers (A) inwards, into the drive position.
